Stanley Omah Didia, a Nigerian singer, songwriter, and record producer, was born on May 19, 1997. He goes by the stage name Omah Lay. After his song "Bad Influence" was released in 2020, he was acknowledged.[1]
Growing up, Stanley Omah Didia lived in Port Harcourt, Nigeria. He was born on May 19, 1997, and is a native of Rivers State, Nigeria's Egbeda Community in the Emohua Local Government Area.[2] Before attending the University of Port Harcourt, he completed his high school education at Rivers State Comprehensive High School.[3] He hails from a musical family;
before to his passing in 1977, his grandfather performed on instruments with the singer Celestine Ukwu. Drums were played by Lay's father.[4] He claimed that although his brother had discouraged him from pursuing music, he still did, and that to this day, his brother travels with him wherever in the globe.[5]
Omah Lay was once a member of a rap trio known as "Lil King." Later, he turned his attention to songwriting and music production, for which he received little credit. In April 2019, he released "Do Not Disturb" as a result. A month later, "Hello Brother" was released.
In June 2019, he signed with KeyQaad as a record label and took a seven-month hiatus.[2][6] He worked on his first EP, Get Layd, throughout the hiatus. "I started working on it August [of 2019]," he said to OkayAfrica.
I eventually had to stop using social media, avoid a lot of distractions, and maintain my composure in order to finish the job successfully. "Bad Influence" was the first song I had recorded for Get Layd.
